MILOS SOFRENOVIC  > performance artist - stage director - choreographer - festival selector - pedagogue received his choreographic education as a scholarship Bachelor of Arts student at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance in London. As a performance artist, choreographer and stage director he was the recipient of several international scholarships and performed for various choreographers including : Michael Lazic (Belgium), Ana Sanchez Colberg (London), Kitt Johnson (Denmark), Liz King (Vienna), Danny Tan (Singapore), Mikhail Honessau (Berlin), Filippo Armati (Locarno), Sonja Vukicevic (Belgrade). He has presented his works at festivals in New York, Singapore, London, Edinburgh, Athens, Istanbul, Yerevan, Iceland, Stockholm, Vienna, Graz, Zagreb, Rijeka, Skopje, Bitola, Belgrade and Novi Sad.

I was very honoured to be invited by Ms. Anika Lehki, artistic director of Open Theatre Fest, to come to Belgrade as a guest teacher and present my new workshop "Dramatisation of non-verbal stage expression".

First of all, this is a brand new Festival in Belgrade and its activities include domestic & international guest performances and workshops over the period of the whole theatre season ( in this particular case every month from October 2015 to June 2016 ). All these activities are taking place at Theatre Left ( Teatar Levo ) , the place where I made my very first "stage steps" as a very young artist. Therefore this whole experience and my wish to support this new artistic Festival mission in Belgrade has a special value for me. Excellent rehearsal studio & stage provided by Theatre Left ( Teatar Levo ) and AKUD „Ivo Lola Ribar“ enabled all the international participants of my workshop to work in highly professional conditions.

The importance of this newly established Open Theatre Fest has an additional value when we take into consideration that in a turmoil of a general financial crisis in the world where art projects are being obstructed and disabled to optimally function, such a fresh new theatre festival initiative is being established.

Among very talented young participants of my 3 days long workshop I was lucky to come across a modern dance group D-Fantasy from Bistrita Romania. The members of this company despite their young age have shown a high level professionalism, dedication to proposed workshop tasks, strong focus during the long working hours of the workshop and therefore in a very short period of time came up with excellent artistic results by the end of the process. I would be delighted to collaborate with this company in near future. It makes me happy that this is a positive outcome of our first collaboration and once again I am thankful to Open Theatre Fest for connecting artists from different countries. Open Theatre Fest hosted by now artists from Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Bosnian Federation , Austria, Romania, Republic of Srpska. Open Theatre Fest will welcome in future companies from Israel, Sweden, France and Slovenia.

My workshop after its presentation at Open Theatre Fest in Belgrade in January, will travel now to Athens during February & March, where I am invited as a guest teacher & performer at DEREE (The American College of Greece ).Also, in March I will be a guest teacher & performer during the awarded residency period at MMF Culture Center in Egilsstaðir, Iceland. In May I am invited to teach at a dance institution in St. Petersburg and further guest workshops in Macedonia and Mexico are planned.

During my residency period at MMF Culture Center in Egilsstaðir, Iceland I will start my rehearsals for the upcoming new solo project: "ON THE ACCEPTANCE OF IMPERFECTION (The Rite of Stravinsky)" Concept & performance by Milos Sofrenovic Project Announcement / Magazine "PHILOSOPHICAL VIEWS"
